Hi, and welcome to this VTC course on learning Adobe Fireworks CS5. My name is James Gonzalez. I'll be your instructor and guide to this comprehensive look at Adobe's primary tool for creating, editing, and optimizing Web graphics. This course is composed of movies between three and seven minutes in length, organized into sections containing movies covering similar techniques or topics. I start with this section, providing an overview of the Fireworks Application and introducing new features in the CS5 version of Fireworks. The application Workspace is covered next including a review of all Fireworks important windows, panels, and interface components. Next, I cover how to create and modify content in Fireworks using the Drawing and Selection Tools in the Vector and Bitmap sections of the Tools Panel. After learning how to create graphics, you then learn how to select, modify, and organize these graphic objects. Next, I demonstrate how to format and work with text as well as how to apply live filters such as Bevels, Drop Shadows, and Blurs to your Fireworks elements. You then learn how to work with Pages, Layers, and image Masks. The entire middle section of the tutorial is devoted to techniques for adding interactivity to your Fireworks projects through the use of Hotspots, Slices, Behaviors, Button symbols, Pop-up Menus, and much, much more. This part of the tutorial concludes with demonstrations on how to create Slideshows and Fireworks Animations. The final section of the course covers how to optimize images using the Export Wizard and how to quickly and efficiently optimize from within the Fireworks Workspace itself using the Optimize Panel, and then concludes with demonstrations on the various Publishing and Export options including how best to use Fireworks with Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe Flash, Adobe Photoshop, and Illustrator.
