Flip glucose and lactose on and off and watch the lac operon respond, with the repressor, the CAP activator and the polymerase shown at each step and expression high only when lactose is present and glucose is absent. A time-course model adds the dynamics, including switch-like induction. A genetics lab lets you build the classic Jacob and Monod mutants and partial diploids and see why a repressor mutation acts in trans while an operator mutation works only in cis. Plain-language, standard and advanced depth levels are included.
