Adobe® Acrobat® 8 is the premier PDF (Portable Document Format) creation and authoring tool that enables users and workgroups to easily create, manipulate, and re-purpose intelligent PDF documents for web, print, online collaboration, data collection and more. In this VTC course, Author Eric Butow demonstrates how to use Acrobat 8 by starting with the basic functions such as the getting started wizard, quick tasks, converting an existing file to PDF format, and setting Acrobat preferences. He then moves on to more advanced topics including editing PDF files, distributing PDF files, collaborating with other users within Acrobat, and collecting data from PDF forms. Instruction is applicable to both Acrobat 8 and Acrobat 8 Professional. To begin learning today, simply click on one of the Adobe Acrobat 8 movie links.
00:00:01,001 --> 00:00:08,000Hello and welcome to VTC's tutorial on Adobe Acrobat 8. I'm Eric Butow. In this tutorial, you will learn how to use Acrobat 8 to create portable document format, or PDF, files. This tutorial presumes that you have already installed Acrobat 8 and you're ready to learn. Here you see the Getting Started with Adobe Acrobat 8 window that appears when you open Acrobat 8. I'm using Acrobat 8 Professional, so the window title bar reflects the version I'm using. The Getting Started window appears when you start Acrobat, no matter what version of Acrobat you use, Standard, Professional, or 3D. You'll learn more about the different versions of Acrobat in the Overview of Acrobat 8 movie later in this chapter. This course covers opening, viewing, editing, and creating PDF files. The topics we'll talk about include opening and closing PDF files, creating and editing a PDF file, combining several files into one PDF file, using the Acrobat interface, customizing Acrobat to make it work the way you want, applying security features to your PDF file, creating and editing a PDF form, adding comments, and producing and tracking a PDF file. This tutorial focuses on getting you up to speed with Acrobat 8 so you can view, create, and edit PDF files. We only touch on some of Acrobat's advanced features, but when you're done with this course, perhaps you'll be interested in exploring some of Acrobat's more advanced features.
