Raster image editing, vector object manipulation, web layout options---Fireworks CS6 can handle all that and more! In this VTC course, author Geoff Blake takes a close look at Adobe's web graphics application. You'll learn how to work efficiently while handling graphic files from a variety of formats. You will learn how to build objects, layouts, and components quickly and easily. Then, you'll see what goes into building a web layout from the ground up as Geoff shows you layers, pages, hotspots, and slices. Finally, see how you can take what you've built and export it to code for use in Dreamweaver or any other code editor. To begin learning today, simply click on the movie links.
Hi there, this is Geoff Blake for VTC and I want to welcome you to our Adobe Fireworks CS6 course. There's all kinds of great stuff that I want to delve into in the wonderful world of Fireworks. I hope you're up for a Fireworks adventure here. Before we embark on our Fireworks adventure I'm going to take just a second and run you through kind of a quick outline of some of the different topics that you and I are going to address together. We're going to start things off inside the Fireworks interface. We're going to explore through the interface, we're going to get a, a really good understanding of the interface and the different components that the interface is comprised of. And I also want to spend some time working more efficiently inside the Fireworks environment. I'm going to show you how you can customize the Fireworks environment, really make it your own, lots and lots of keyboard shortcuts for you, working with different documents and files and templates and things like this. And then what we'll do is we'll turn our attention to creating content. We're going to spend some time creating raster or bitmap content, vector content vector shapes and objects. And we'll also take a look at something called Auto Shapes which I think you'll really enjoy. We'll also have a section in there on mastering the Pen Tool, you're going to get really good at using this thing called the Pen Tool. And then from there we'll talk about editing our shapes working with our shapes, working with color, applying different kinds of fills and different kinds of outline effects on our objects. And then we'll talk about managing our Fireworks objects, aligning and grouping and stacking order and so on. And then from there what we're going to do is we're going to build a web layout from complete scratch so that you can see what goes into building a web layout from the ground up. So we'll literally going to start with a blank page and at the end of it we're going to wind up with a fully functional web web interface, it's pretty cool. And in that, that sort of adventure of building a, a web layout we're going to talk about something called layers and pages. We're also going to talk about something called Master Pages, you're going to really good at this stuff. We'll talk about importing content specifically content from Photoshop and from Illustrator. We'll talk about applying special effects and working with filters, optimizing our content using the GIF and the JPEG file format. And then towards the end we'll talk about inserting something called Hotspots and Layout Slices. This ties into the very last segment in our, in our course, exporting our final work. You're going to see how to take your content out of Fireworks and get it into the world of code and there's lots of different things I want to show you related to that. So I hope that sounds like fun. Without further ado, let's delve into the world of Fireworks.
