Lightroom 2 is a major update to a program that has been rapidly embraced by the photography community. Itâs the standard for workflow efficiency. Including a world-standard print module, slide show module, and web gallery module, Lightroom is a quantum-leap improvement in the management and distribution of digital imagery. Lightroom also includes image adjustment capabilities using presets that can be traded, downloaded and purchased for further image processing creativity. Phil Hawkins is a professional photographer from Fresno, CA and will show you how to put Lightroom 2 to use streamlining your workflow and expanding your creativity. Photography lessons are also included to ensure the best possible result when using Lightroom. To begin learning Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2, simply click on the links.
Hello and welcome to VTC's tutorial, Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2. My name is Phil Hawkins and I'll be your host for the next several hours, as we discover this incredibly useful and feature-rich photo cataloging and manipulation program. Now, I've been a professional landscape photographer in Fresno, California, for 28 years. Obviously I shoot landscapes, but also sports, portraits, and an occasional wedding. I've been using Lightroom since the introduction of Version 1.4 in April of 2008. This will be a detailed examination of the many features of Lightroom 2, some not initially obvious. There is much about Lightroom that does not initially meet the eye. Now, this tutorial will be a resource upon which you can refer when you encounter something unfamiliar or to explain how a feature works. It's arranged to match the layout and flow of features located in the program itself so that when you encounter a feature in the program, you can easily find the corresponding lesson in this tutorial. We will shy away from showing you how to touch up a portrait, but rather show you the tools and how to use them for that purpose. We assume you know how to touch up a portrait. All you need is to be shown what tools are available to get it done in Lightroom. Now, we'll explain the relationship between Photoshop and Lightroom and how to use both programs together. However, Lightroom's main claim to fame is its cataloging and image organizational capabilities. For those photographers who shoot high volume, Lightroom is a godsend and, when used with Photoshop, work flow efficiency will reach a new level of speed and convenience. Now, I must admit I am a bit late to the Lightroom party. I resisted using Lightroom on its initial release due to the fact that when I tried the Beta, it lacked many features I wanted and, at the time, I decided I didn't need another program to do what Bridge and Photoshop were already doing. However, with the release of Version 1.4, I drank the Kool-Aid and am now a Lightroom evangelist. One great thing about Adobe and this software is they really listen to the customer base and have incorporated all, and then some, of the features I found lacking in the Beta versions. Version 2 is more progress toward perfection and you can count on a Version 2.5 sometime in the near future as Adobe works hard to advance and keep pace with the demands of the professional and the serious amateur photographer. So stay with us as we examine this truly wonderful software and, as with all VTC tutorials, if you missed something or if you need to see and hear something again, simply move the slider located at the bottom of the screen to the back and repeat as many times as you need to. So, if you're ready, I'm ready. Let's go.
