Hello and welcome to VTC's Corel Painter 12 Advanced Training Series. Now, my name is Jason Maranto and I'll be your guide throughout this training series, and it's important to note that this is a continuation of a previous training series that I've done for VTC for Corel Painter 12. Now, the idea with the original Corel Painter 12 series was that we covered most of the fundamental elements of working with Corel Painter 12 and this series is going to dive into the really advanced functionality of the program. And we have a lot to cover, so I'm not going to go back over any of that stuff that we've already covered. I'm going to assume that you've already watched that training series, and I highly recommend that you do, even if you consider yourself to be an experienced Corel Painter user, it's important that we start on the same ground. Now, that said, we're going to go ahead and set up our computer to operate in a certain way so that we can be on the same page. Now, if you followed along with the previous course, then you'll likely have all this stuff already set up, but I do want to make sure that we do have what we need in place before we begin. So, to begin with, I do have a Corel Painter 12 Advanced Workfiles folder on my desktop. Now, what you will need to do is download the Workfiles for this training series and unzip them onto your Desktop so that you have access to these Workfiles. It's very important that you do, because we're going to be using them quite a bit. Now, likewise, it's also important that you have a shortcut on your Desktop that takes you to the Corel Painter 12 install folder. On my system, that is in the C Drive, Program Files, Corel, and then Painter 12 folder. Now this install folder is going to be the default setup that you have in Corel Painter, by default, every time you reset it back to its default factory settings, and this is the folder we're going to be into many times. Now, in addition to the default stuff, there is also an extra content folder here, and the way that I got that Extra Content folder is by either installing the Extra Content off of the CD when you install Corel Painter 12 from a CD that you purchased, or when you download Corel Painter 12 from the website, you can also get the extra content as a separate install. Either way, I recommend that you do have the extra content because we're going to be referring back to this and, again, I do cover that in the previous training series. Likewise, we're going to have a Painter 12 custom user folder here on our Desktop as well, and I'll show you where that is on my system. Now, this will not necessarily be in the same place on every system, but generally speaking, the rules are kind of similar. So if we go to My Computer, we go to the C Drive, then we go to Documents and Settings, and then we're going to go to recording. Now, recording on your system will be named something else. Whatever your user login is, whenever you login to your computer, that's the name that's going to be on this folder. My login happens to be recording, so that's the name that's on this folder. So, then we're going to go in here and we're going to see a folder named Application Data. Now you may notice that Application Data here on my system is kind of grayed out. The reason why that is, is because this is typically a hidden file, so what we need to do to view this is go to Tools, go to Folder Options, go to View, and the make sure that we have Hidden files and folders turned to Show hidden files and folders. If you have Do not show hidden files and folders turned on, then you will not be able to see this. So make sure that it's checked off to show the hidden files and folders. I'm just going to go ahead and hit OK and then I'm going to go into our Application Data folder and in there you'll find we have a Corel folder and in the Corel folder we have a Painter 12 folder. If you just go ahead and right-click on that and drag it to the Desktop and then let go, and then choose Create Shortcuts Here from this context menu, you'll create a Shortcut. I'm going to hit Cancel because I've already got one, which is this folder right here, and then I'm going to go ahead and just hold down Shift and click on this X to close out all of those windows so that we get back to a blank Desktop. Now, let's go ahead and double-click on that shortcut real quick, open it up so that we can see what's in there. In here you'll find whatever you may have in terms of Workspaces. And all these Workspaces we set up in the previous training series, so if you haven't followed along with that previous training series make sure you do so that we have access to all of these Workspaces because we will be referring to them as we're going through. Most importantly the Jason Workspace, which is where we left off in the previous training series, and we're going to pick right back up with that Workspace. Now, the idea here is that we're going to be constantly in and out of this folder, as well as the Painter 12 install folder, so we're going to need to have both of these shortcuts on the Desktop and please make sure that you do have them, either on the Desktop or someplace that's easy and quick for you to access because, as I say, we're going to be in and out of those folders constantly and you don't want to have to be searching through your File Directory structure in order to get these folders every time we need to because it'll just take way too long and, like I said, we're not going to slow down on this training series. This is probably about as slow as I'm going to go.
