Steinberg's Cubase 5 is highly regarded as one of the best, and certainly one of the easiest to master, digital audio workstations. In this VTC MasterClass! course, seasoned Cubase expert Mark Struthers teaches students how to record a song in its entirety before going on to mix and master the final tracks. Work Files are included so students can create their own version of the song. Welcome to this VTC MasterClass! Focused on Steinberg's Professional Recording Package Cubase 5. You might be aware that VTC has produced a course Cubase previously and was primarily aimed at those people new to the program. It is authored by Adam Olson and comes highly recommended, not least because I learned quite a number of things by watching it through. It was created using earlier version of Cubase, Version 4, but much of it is entirely relevant to this MasterClass on Cubase 5. Therefore I won't be covering the actual basics of Cubase however to contradict what I've just said I am aware that there will be some overlap of focus. The main thrust of this MasterClass will cover recording of a song in its entirety and along the way I will show you how to make the Raw Audio recordings much more polished. Then I will talk you through the Mastering Process so that your finished track will sound more professional. Predominantly I will use Cubase 5 for Mastering but I will also show you another Steinberg Product more specifically designed for all this, Wavelab 6. I will briefly use WaveLab 6 to show you how to turn your recording into a mastered version and how you can use the program to compile a whole album, something Cubase can do to a degree but not really to the extent Wave Lap can. The resulting Audio and MIDI Files are also made available for you to practice and perhaps have a go at producing an alternative version of the song. I would love to hear this when you complete them. So let's make some music with Cubase 5.
