Welcome to the VTC course for Joomla! Template Editing. In this course, we're going to talk about the myriad of options you have with Joomla! templates. You can take a template and edit it and make it very unique and a perfect fit for a specific website that you're creating. Templates provide a layout in Joomla! and they work directly with the database that is holding the information for the site. Joomla! websites are dynamic. They're constantly pulling information stored in our database and showing that information on the template to the user. It does all this through PHP commands. The easiest way to start with templates is to learn how to edit the templates provided with our Joomla! installation. That is what we're going to do throughout our course. The following templates: beez, JA Purity and rhuk milkyway are the ones that are provided with a default installation of Joomla! You can tell that milkyway is the default on mine because of the star right there. You can edit these templates by learning about the files that are associated with these templates and then also making sure that you understand HTML codes. You're going to learn a lot about HTML coding. You're going to learn that so that way you can kind of understand how the site developer put the template together. Then once you understand the coding and how it's all put together, you can tweak the site to better fit your needs. So in this course we're going to learn about the HTML, we're going to learn about CSS and we're going to take a very close look at all the specific files associated with a template in Joomla!
