Hello. I'd like to welcome you to the Virtual Training Company presentation of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Development. My name is Mark Long and I'll be your instructor for the entire course and what we're going to do here is spend somewhere between 6 and 7 hours going through the development process on a Microsoft SQL Server 2008 utilization. Now, Microsoft conveniently and neatly divides SQL Server 2008 into two pieces: Administration and Development. Now VTC also offers a course on SQL Server 2008 Administration and it looks more at the installation, maintenance and all that sort of thing through the administrative side of SQL Server 2008. In this video we're going to look at Development - building some of the design aspects of the database, writing some code that runs in the back of the database on the Development side as an application programmer, on how we build things that allows end users to manipulate our database in a safe, consistent, efficient manner. Now, there's a lot of things that go into play for a developer on Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and those are the things we're going to concentrate in this video. Now there's a lot of cases in the real world where development kind of blurs over into administration and where administration kind of blurs over into development. What I want to concentrate on here is how to get you up to speed and feeling comfortable with those things and if you're brand new to SQL Server this is going to help you a lot. If you've been around a while there's a lot of things that you can take from this and see how to accomplish some really cool things here. So, with that, let's just jump into the course.
