00:00:01,001 --> 00:00:08,000Hello and welcome to VTC's tutorial on Microsoft Windows Vista. I'm Eric Butow. In this tutorial you will learn how to use Windows Vista. This tutorial presumes that you have already installed Windows Vista and you're ready to learn. Here you see the Windows Vista desktop, which appears after you start Windows. In this tutorial you will see different colored starbursts that are accompanying mouse clicks; red for left clicks, and blue for right clicks. In this tutorial you'll notice in the lower right hand corner of the desktop that the version of Windows Vista is RC2, which stands for Release Candidate 2. Only Vista RC2 was available at the time this tutorial was recorded but your version of Windows Vista will not have this text on the desktop. Also, note that this tutorial covers the Windows Vista Ultimate version and some information in this tutorial may not apply to you depending on which version of Windows Vista you're using. This course covers using Windows Vista to complete a wide variety of tasks. The topics we'll talk about include using the Windows desktop including; the Start menu, the taskbar, the sidebar that is new in Windows Vista and finding help, personalizing Windows so it works the way you want, installing, changing and removing hardware and software, building a cable network, wireless network or both, maintaining security in Windows Vista including managing the firewall, protecting yourself against malware, controlling access to files and folders, and establishing parental controls, adding users and changing user data, maintaining and monitoring Windows Vista so you can keep Vista running in top condition, using Windows Explorer to manage files and folders, searching for files and folders in Windows Vista, using built in multimedia tools including Windows Media Player to view and or listen to photos, audio files and videos. Using Internet Explorer 7, the Microsoft web browser that's fundled with Windows Vista. When you're done with this course perhaps you'll be interested in exploring some of Vista's more advanced features.
