GoogleCloudMessaging is Google's new framework for asynchronously delivering notifications from the Internet ("cloud") to Android devices. Rather than the device waking up and polling on a regular basis at the behest of your app, your app can register for notifications and then wait for them to arrive. GCM is engineered with power savings in mind, aiming to minimize the length of time 3G radios are exchanging data.
You will also learn to implement Xmpp Instant Messaging using Push notifications via Google Cloud Messaging. You will learn to use Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP) is a communications protocol for message-oriented middleware based on XML (Extensible Markup Language).
