The course moves from a study of the PowerPoint interface through creating presentations, and where possible, reusing content already created. Participants will learn how to add smart art objects, images, drawings and charts to slides as well as importing an editing audio and video content.
The course author, Helen Bradley, teaches Microsoft PowerPoint from a business perspective, introducing tools that can be used to ensure that PowerPoint presentations are consistently formatted and so that, when changes are made, the changes flow seamlessly through the presentation. Topics included within the course: formatting data in tables, using the photo album tool, working with multimedia objects and properly preparing your slide show for presentation. Welcome to VTC's course on PowerPoint 2010. My name's Helen Bradley and in this course I'll take you through the basics of Microsoft PowerPoint 2010. I'm not assuming that you've ever seen any of the Microsoft Office Applications before, but if you have then some of the Interface will no doubt be familiar to you. We'll start with a general look at the Program Interface for Microsoft PowerPoint. I'll show you how to find your way around the Ribbon, the new Backstage View and other elements on the screen. We'll also look at the Mini Toolbar. I'll show you the various Views that are available in PowerPoint and how to get help if you need it. We'll start working with PowerPoint Files, we'll learn how to Open and Close a PowerPoint Presentation. How to Create a new Blank Presentation and how to Create a Presentation using one of the PowerPoint Presentation Templates. Then we'll go ahead and start working with Text on a PowerPoint Slide. You'll learn how to Type Text on a Slide and how to Format it, including working with Bullets and Numbering. I'll show you how to use Tabs to space things appropriately and how to Cut, Copy and Paste content. We'll then move on to some Advanced Text Options, including working with WordArt, Creating Columns of Text and Hyperlinks inside your presentation. We'll also look at how you can Import a PowerPoint Outline that's been Created in Microsoft Word to make an Instant Presentation. We'll then move forward and start working with Slides, learning how to Insert and Delete Slides and Re order them within the presentation. You'll see how to Import Slides form another presentation, Organize Slides into Sections and then Add Headers and Footers to them. One of the important features of PowerPoint has always been its Slide Master Tool which allows you to Create consistent and good looking presentations very easily. We'll spend time on the Slide Master exploring it and Creating our own Slide Master and Slide Layouts. You'll learn how to Save a Design as a Template and how to work with themes, Theme Colors, Theme Fonts and Effects. PowerPoint is a very visual application so one of the key things that you'll be working with when you're working with PowerPoint Slideshow is it's Graphics. We'll explore Graphics in detail from Adding and Styling Images inside a PowerPoint Presentation, to Correcting and Displaying Images attractively. You'll learn how to work with SmartArt Graphics to Create beautiful designed business Diagrams. And we'll also look at the special Photo Album Feature in PowerPoint which allows you to Create quite complex Album Designs very quickly and easily. Tables are a handy way to display detailed information in PowerPoint in a logical way, I'll show you how to Create Tables inside PowerPoint, how to Format them and how to Format the Text in them. You'll also learn how to Insert an Excel Worksheet inside a PowerPoint Presentation and how to Calculate and Format that Excel Worksheet. You can use Shapes and PowerPoint Slides to do all sorts of things including Creating your own Diagrams. We'll look at the basics of Inserting and Formatting Shapes, Connecting them and then Arranging them and finally Creating a Simple Drawing using PowerPoint Shapes. We'll look at the Multimedia options in PowerPoint including incorporating Sound in a Presentation and Movies and we'll look at the new Movie Editing Options. To make your Presentation look attractive we'll look at some of the Transition and Animation Features in PowerPoint. You'll learn how to Animate Images, SmartArt Graphics and Charts as well as how to make a simple Quiz using Action Buttons. When it comes to Presentation time you'll need to prepare all the pieces for your Presentation, including Speaker Notes and Handouts. I'll show you how to get a Presentation ready to be made and then how to make your Presentation in a number of different ways. From Broadcasting it over the web, to Distributing it on a CD and making it Live. PowerPoint has a lot of Presentation Options each of which is appropriate for a specific audience, so we'll look at not only How to Prepare a Presentation in a number of ways but also which audience it might be most appropriate to. So you can see the entire process from beginning to end, we'll finish up with a quick look at Creating a Presentation from Start to Finish. You'll see the Presentation grow from an empty screen to a Presentation ready for distributing or making live. In short I'll take you from Start to End in Microsoft PowerPoint insuring that you have all the skills that you need to get a Presentation on Disc or on the Web ready for someone to View. Along the way we'll also look at some of the Advanced Features of PowerPoint that will help you deal with special situations such as Creating Presentations to be viewed by a person on their own. Now briefly before we begin, I've made some of the Files which I've used in this video available as Work files that you can use. So I think it's time now that I stop talking about what we're going to do and let's get started with PowerPoint 2010.
