Welcome to PMBOK Part 4 the final part of a four part course series designed to help you understand the PMBOK Guide and also to study for and pass the PMP and CAPM Certification Exams. My name is Vanina Mangano and I will be your instructor for this course. As a brief introduction I am PMP Certified and PMP stands for Project Management Professional, a certification issued by the Project Management Institute one of the leading global organizations in the field of Project Management. I currently specialize in Project Management Training and as a business professional consider myself an entrepreneur having led several small business start-ups. Along with the personal introduction I'll take a moment to cover the contents of this course. If you've gone through PMBOK part 2 and PMBOK Part 3 you'll find the course structure to be very similar and consistent. To date we've covered the first 6 Knowledge Areas within the PMBOK Guide and this course will literally pick up where part 3 off by reviewing the remaining three Knowledge Areas. This includes Project Communications Management, Project Risk Management and Project Procurement Management. The contents in this course are organized in a way that will cover all the processes within these three Knowledge Areas very thoroughly. But before delving into the Knowledge Areas I'll provide you with an overview of the first 6 Knowledge Areas that we've already covered in previous PMBOK Part Courses. These overviews are meant to be brief and to cover only the high level concepts and alone do not provide you with enough information of the first 6 Knowledge Areas to pass the exam. Each is reviewed thoroughly within the first three parts of this course series. This includes an overview of Integration, Scope, Time, Cost, Quality and Human Resource. Next for each of the 3 Knowledge Areas that are a focus of this course we will go through an assessment review. For each process within the Knowledge Area I'll also go through the inputs, tools and techniques and outputs and each individual process will cover about 10 to 20 workbook review questions. Workbook review questions include light exercises that are meant to review the contents of the movies relating to the process that was just covered. These exercises help to reinforce the material and see how much you've retained but in a different format that the exam practice questions. By the end of the course you'll be ready to go through exam practice questions that are written in the format of the certification exams which is multiple choice. I will close out the course with a review of terms, a summary of the three Knowledge Areas, I'll explain how to apply the course series towards your application to meet the requirement contact hours and I'll go through some tips for test day and that sums up the contents of PMBOK Part 4. One thing that this course will not include is an overview of the Project Life Cycle which is covered thoroughly in PMBOK Part 1. Aside from the primary focus on communications, risk and procurement I'd like to comment that this course leans towards making sure that you are ready for the certification exams and that concludes this movie on PMBOK part 4, course contents, I hope you enjoy the course and will be able to utilize the contents towards achieving your PMP or CAPM credentials or just in applying the concepts and information towards improving your Project Management Skills.
